PennDOT delayed again but we expect to have notice from Harrisburg this week. It is unclear how long after Harrisburg approves until we will have notice to proceed with the project. The contractor, RMS, is considering trucking the car to their Columbia, PA facility to save transportation time.
There is no update on the current condition of the track and no work has been done. We need to control weeds, brush, and better mark ties for replacement as well as complete inspection for loose or missing bolts or other problems with the track.
We'll pay for the concrete to lay the curbs. The borough will provide all other materials. We'll provide labor and tools for laying the brick and we must arrange for and receive delivery of the concrete.
We submitted advertisements to Rail Pace. Andy Richards is working with WPSU to underwrite some programs. He will also talk to Froggy and 3WZ about paid advertising. He plans to run the ads between 9/13 and 9/27.
Kevin Lloyd from Big Spring Spirits visited to discuss potential partnership opportunities. He would like to combine their products with rail excursions. We discussed several possible ideas. Andy Richards pointed out that alcohol on the trains wouldn't be possible due to railroad rules. Kevin offered to help with the platform extension and possibly other projects. Tom will add Kevin to the membership mailing list.
Hunter shared some PRR manuals from the 1930s and 1940s. He also shared some collector coins and a DVD about the Wheeling and Lake Erie. He is willing to loan the DVD to anybody interested.
