RDC coolant heating element on railroad tieThis picture was taken in Bellefonte while draining coolant from the engine of RDC #9167.  The foreground component is a heating element inserted into the coolant.  The element base serves both as a receptacle for electrical power and the master drain plug for the coolant system.  The element is resting on a tie of the Nittany and Bald Eagle (NBER) line through Bellefonte, near the Bellefonte Train Station and the rail bridge in Talleyrand park.  A tie plate and rail web are visible in the background.

Ken Dishman, Tom Canich, and Steve Dillon drained the coolant in preparation for work done on the car as part of a general overhaul of the mechanical, electrical, glazing, and other components.
